A Child's Halloween
Out from the trees
Leaves are flying about
Waiting for Goblins and bats to come out.

It is Halloween night
And the curtain grows thin
We welcome our neighbors and spirits
"come in."

But out on the step
Mystery abounds
Turnips and pumpkins
Carved and glow 'round.

Jolly Jack of the Lantern
Glows his brilliant smile
For he knows, as Autumn goes
Winter has arrived.

The harvest is in
The wheatfields are bare
Any stubble left
The pooka will not share.

As the bonfire crackles
In a moonlit sky
The fairy folk on snorting steeds
Gallop swiftly by.

Come away! O' human child
To the land beyond the pale
For on this night of Samhain
You can walk beyond the veil.

Tarry not my little one -
Your loved ones are quite near
A warm spot in your cozy home
Will show them they are dear.

Out on the wind
The New Year sallies forth
In a time that is not a time
Samhain night is here.
