The first thing of interest to note about this system is that it undergoes a
period-doubling bifurcation as the parameter 
is increased. To
see how the system
evolves as increases, we cut the band with a section of a plane
perpendicular to the flow and graph the distance from the origin vs. the
value of each time the trajectory crosses our plane.
